I loved photographing Dustin Hoffman. We had silly fun, and he played Bach on the piano—how cool is that!

“Kramer vs. Kramer” had just been released and he was “hot.” We shot quite a few times during that period. Once I got a phone call from him saying, “Come over. I will give you gold.” I rushed over with cameras flying to discover Dustin and the seven-year-old actor from Kramer, Justin Henry, playing in the pool together. Indeed, Dustin gave me gold. Those photos sold everywhere.

During this photo shoot, however, I felt something else creeping into our “relationship.” I was being studied. He finally confessed: He was working on a new project where he would be dressing as a woman photographer and he was using me as a model for the role. Well, after changing directors, Dustin the photographer in drag became Tootsie the actor in drag.
