JAMES STEWART Hollywood 1983

Bette Davis’ co-star on “Right of Way” was James Stewart, and the first problem I faced was that I was feeling compelled to imitate his famous voice… not that he would have minded. However, I did manage not to make a complete fool of myself and stayed professional.

A dear man, gentle and gracious, he was most cooperative. He loved posing with Miss Davis, and he was totally ‘Jimmy Stewart’ when we were doing his single shots. I whizzed through a few rolls (motor drives make it all so fast and easy) loving the experience. When I developed the film I found I could have stopped after the first shot. He posed the way he spoke—without moving!
