The perfect lighting on Karen Black's face and her luminous beauty exists simply because the incredible artist, Conrad Hall was the cinematographer on “Day of the Locust.” Watching him light a set was perhaps the finest instruction in lighting that I experienced in my twenty years in Hollywood. He was an intuitive genius... and boy, did he make women look breathtaking.
