Bruce Weber was doing an ad campaign for Versace and during that time we became friends. I simply had to photograph him for a project I was working on where I shot people as if they were ‘self-portraits’. He said he wanted to be seen as a tough wartime photojournalist… on the sands of Malibu! He loved his new camera and would not part with it. Cool.
