GEORGE HURRELL Malibu 1981

If there is one single photographer that represents all that is glamour in Hollywood, it would have to be George Hurrell, whose work established the canon of black and white portraits from the 1930s and 1940s.  There is a story that he would set up his camera on a movie set with a very long release cord and then he would roam the studio during filming, taking shots at will, regardless of the light. Not to worry—everything was corrected in the dark room.

We traded photo sessions.  He photographed me with my daughter and I photographed him with his son.
