David Byrne, who was coming out with his new Latin inspired album called Rei Momo, arrived at my studio dressed in a tropical white suit and the perfect Panama hat. Cool. So, we roamed the grounds looking for rattan, banana trees and anything else that screamed Steamy! But, honestly, while I loved the music, these first “banana” photos weren’t nearly as interesting as Byrne himself was, and I was bonding with him over our mutual art school POV. What interested me more was his head—his Talking Head—for he clearly was a brain to explore, and it was the black and white portraits that I loved most….
