Usually, waiting for Grace Jones had more the feel of Waiting for Godot. Not just hours late, she could be days late. Actually, she could be weeks late… as she was for this photo shoot!

Once she finally arrived, however, she would become completely dedicated: focused, inventive, and full of good spirits. Wildly Grace Jones! This time she surprised everyone by showing up uninvited and unexpected in Mexico City, where I was shooting Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone during the making of Total Recall. Grace, who couldn’t find her way from Hollywood to my studio in Venice, managed to get to Mars in full make-up.
