Ah, Paddy Maloney—I just love saying his name!

Paddy Maloney was a good friend of our friend, Burgess Meredith, and he wanted his photo taken. I love melancholy Irish music and Paddy and his group The Chieftains are wondrous! I said I would photograph him as long has he played for me. The ploy worked. He took out his tin whistle that he keeps in a coat pocket and played the sweetest, most mellow airs—divine, haunting songs that broke my heart.
