STING Zurich 1988

Sting was a neighbor, a friend and a Broadway collaborator (Three Penny Opera) and we worked a lot together. There is much that I could say about Sting, but what interested me most about him is that during the height of his fame, he never felt compelled to surround himself with either posse or body guards (except for concerts). We were walking one sunny, fall afternoon in NYC, and I wondered aloud if he was ever concerned about fans. He said, “Just watch what happens.” He completely reduced his Rock Star charisma down to Normal Human and we were never disturbed. I have known only a few great stars that were able to do that—Harrison Ford for an example—but few actually want it. This one was shot for Versace on location in Zurich during the Nothing Like the Sun tour.
