HILLARY AND CHELSEA CLINTON Washington DC 1994

My first White House photo session, and I had only fifteen minutes to photograph the First Lady and Chelsea for a book on American Ballet Theatre. I was ready! My image was of little Chelsea seated on the floor resting lovingly at her mother’s knee—like a traditional 19th Century portrait. Hillary and Chelsea appeared and little Chelsea was a grown girl in a mini skirt! OMG! not on the floor … not all legs on the floor. No one will look at the First Lady. I didn’t have time to change the set up as the clock was ticking, so I moved Chelsea behind her mother and hoped for the best. It was to become the portrait President Clinton chose for his desk in the Oval Office.
