True to the mischievous spirit of the deliciously ironic humorist—the only food critic in France to give his highest award for French Cooking to a Belgian restaurant, and run with the Bulls of Pamplona (probably escaping the irate French who read his column in the Paris Herald Tribune)—Artie found a way to both mock himself and make himself more heroic in the process. To do this photograph, Artie borrowed polo gear and a pony from a friend, declaring “this is how I want to be remembered.”
